Depending upon location you have residents who live near building laundry areas moaning about noise. To keep the peace buildings shut things down at a certain time to stop complainers from complaining.
But we only have 7 washers and 5 dryers for 150 apartments
Well then that's counter productive. Shortening the hours just assures the fact that it'll become even more crowded with residences making a run for the laundry room and fights will break out or something.
Yeesh. Just reading about this makes me all nervous. I hate it when it's laundry day because someone always seems to hoard all the machines & have them all blasting away with their stuff.

Yah and our building has a lot of essential workers so they only have an option to do it now on the weekends. I don't step foot in it over the weekend. In my mind its closed then. They has been too many arguments and literal fights I get what I call laundry anxiety. Until its done. Now if I had machines in my apartment, I'd love doing it. I'd wash my clothes every few days. I got lucky today. I did two loads and there was two people finishing up in the dryers when I was throwing my stuff in the washer. So no waiting or arguments

My building has 3 washers and 4 dryers for approx. 66 apartments. I know that some tenants in my building prefer to do a laundry at a outside laundromat (and there is one around the corner).

Isn't it interesting that neither of our buildings have the same number of washers and dryers.
I don't know what Manhattan or even NYC you live in; but there are plenty of laundry services around.
Where you think app based services like Cleanly send things?
No idea. None of the services' websites show photos of their actual laundry plant. One service, "Liox," has a storefront that advertises "wash and fold" service.
