The Mayor says that NYC may have to layoff 22,000 city workers to save 1 billion dollars because theres no federal fundings.

What are your thoughts on this?

That is one big ouch. How the city supposed to save 22k jobs and at the same time BLM and social justice and anti race activist want the city to use 1 billion removed from the NYPD to fund social welfare programs? The city is a tough bind here.

The BLM have nothing to do with it.

Cuomo said in 9 months, by April 2021. Each NY county will submit a plan for redesign and budgeting of the police.

If crime is up or down as it leading up to that date it is going to influence how they decide to do it in each county.

So it's not until 9 moths from now these things are decided and then more time after that for the implementation

While this is terrible news and DeBlasio's inept management likely a contributing factor- lets all be honest with the fact that this is due to the Federal government giving NY state a giant middle finger (and by Trump because NY being a blue state hates his guts). The federal gov't was slow to reach to this pandemic and slow to dole out necessary funds. Cuomo took immediate action to protect us but at the great cost of destroying the economy. The NYC school system/DOE are in disaster mode.
