People are forgetting African countries have much younger populations on average and this virus affects older segments of the population more.

Two obesity, diabetes and heart disease are major risk factors. The average African is less likely to suffer the above problems for obvious teasons.. Ditto India..

America's poor response to the virus in the initial days and the large percentage of unhealthy Americans meant that this virus was going to hit the US hard..

Africa's population is over 50 times New York state's population.

Even with a younger demographic in Africa, you have to assume that Africa's over-65 age population must be at least 10-20 times NY state's over-65 age population?!

Similar argument for India.

China is even less of a difference, since they have an older demographic than Africa and India, and a higher life expectancy.

Also, in large parts of Africa and some parts of India, Ramadhan and Eid were celebrated by massive crowds.

Many African countries had absolute zero social distancing or curfews in place this whole year.

Also note that there are around 1 million Chinese citizens living in Africa (many involved in construction and infrastructure projects). Not sure how many of them travel back and forth every year, but several people in this thread seemed to assume that Africa does not get many foreign tourists and visitors. China also has a major military base in Dijibouti and leases large amounts of arable land in Africa.

Places such as Kenya and South Africa are major tourist hubs.

If you go outside of US such as Thailand or even Hong Kong. People always look before they cross the streets and wear face masks when it's winter or spring. They are actually more cautious than Americans.
Americans are too entitled, many still think they have the right of way jaywalking while a big truck is jetting down the street. That is the kind of entitlement behavior that Americans were afforded by lawsuits and various nanny laws. Even criminals in America have more protection than citizens of other countries. It's no wonder there are so many that feel their liberties are more important than science. I don't worry about the deaths, just worry about yourself. Darwin will prevail.

Perhaps true in many parts of Asia, but definitely not true in Africa.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-52966016

And the African population is expected to be half the world's population in 2100. They are winning the "Darwin will prevail" war, while at the same time ignoring the supposed dangers of Covid-19.

In countries like India and in many African countries, many people died at home with mysterious illness and symptoms similar to Coronavirus. Due to lack of testing, those numbers were not reported.

Mostly Corona patients are brought dead to Hospital in those countries.
By contrast, numbers in New York look exaggerated.

Underlying conditions were the primary cause of death or not ? This is the major difference in reporting casualty figures between USA and other countries.

Brrrrrr….. AFRICA: overrun with corrupted, dirtbag “leaders.”
Plus the evil terrorists hiding in the bushes. Taking over afrikkanis farm land(s) and ruining
their livelihood & lives…..

Africa. They still have to be helped & shown how to grow potatoes & whatnot.

Africa…. thank GOD for missionaries’ /Dr’s and the like who go there voluntarily to help these poor
people because they’re a primitive people and lead by rogue governments who brutalize
‘the afrikkani people.’

Do they have a black lies matter chapter in Africa ?
