He'll be alright, he just needs to move to a lower COL area, instead of taking it out on our elderly. NYC is expensive and it can be frustrating at times paying the bills.

Free' air-conditioners paid for by the middle-class NYC taxpayer.

And God forbid the UPPER classes should be required to pay THEIR share.

what kind of AC did you wind up gettin KK?
I bought an Arctic Air, 14,000 BTU unit from Walmart with heat and "follow me" thermostat at an under $400 price. The extra 2,000 BTU's makes a big difference in comfort.

That's not Murphy's Law, King. Murphy's Law would be if your a/c had a warranty and it died the day after the warranty expired.

Murphy's Law qualifies as the City offering me a free air conditioner AND FREE INSTALLATION, a month after I bought mine and squeezed it into its floor level corner location.
I still cannot believe it didn't cost me a week in bed (very bad back.)

Murphy had his finger in a lot of pies, Cida.

KK, I have a newfound respect for my elders; my M-L complex is majority retired. Ppl can be selfish bastards when they're good and ready...
