What does banning cars in Manhattan have to do with congestion pricing? Two different topics completely.
Not completely. Congestion pricing will discourage cars in Manhattan and encourage public transportation. It can be the middle ground because banning cars completely is not realistic in 2020.
Ban should extend to 96th street or even farther North.
Taxis and Ubers should DEFINITELY be banned.
Elitists could hire bearers to carry them around like Maharajas, or better yet, they could teach themselves to walk. Perhaps then they might need to spend less time on a treadmill.
I like the idea. People in the suburbs with large families who visit the city may suffer. But how often do they do that anyways? Plus nowadays most families are small.
We need to ban all families too. It's one way to ban the cars needed for large grocery purchases.
All these citi bikes are not family friendly. No one with a child is going to use them, yet these bike lanes are taking over the city.
Let's be honest about pushing families out of the city.
Lol, sorry if Manhattan landscape doesn’t meet all your suburban needs ?
Too many bike lanes ? Funny, you usually find them in more affluent zip codes in nyc. It is those people who live there - including families - that want bicycles. And riding a bike around south street seaport, west side, and generally downtown below the 14th is a fun experience. The lanes also tend to be safer than lanes in far Neighborhoods of outer boroughs , again due to local tax base pressure.
If anything, more families made Manhattan their home pre-pandemic due to a different lifestyle and that’s ok to have choices.
