Where did your friend get the original autism and/or bipolar diagnoses? That is the place to start asking about any potential outpatient treatment. And the professionals can also tell you which condition is more urgent to treat. I suspect that if the person is at all functional its the bipolar disorder that needs to be under control first (usually with medication). Its hard to help somebody with any other condition if they are severely depressed or manically high.

How old is your friend ? YAI has a good reputation for autistic spectrum,on a flip side the wait list can be long. They're really good with helping teenagers and young adults, but I believe they cater to other age groups too.
