Just curious of New Yorkers perspectives.

How much (what percentage would you assign) has Manhattan deteriorated since Covid, protests, and riots?

Where? Near Wall Street, I would say I see almost zero protests... maybe 0.1% once in a while?

Can you set some criteria here as the question sounds too broad ? What aspects of life supposedly deteriorated in Manhattan that you want to ask about ? Quality of life in general ? I don’t live there anymore but when I hang out in Manhattan, I ride a bike below the 14th street, drink a few coladas and tbh I am loving light car traffic, it’s a breathe of fresh air.
Protests and riots is a political concern and I’m not touching that.

For the average New Yorker the effect of protests and riots have been very minimal. Protesters very rarely interact with the public. In Minneapolis they burned down 20 buildings but in NY none.

The effect of the COVID lockdown has been huge, business loss and job loss but also necessary and is stressful on mental health

46 percent of New York renters are unable to pay rent

Life has changed for sure, I would say the tank still has gas, but without a vaccine or effective stimulus, we’ll be running on fumes soon.

For someone working and able to pay bills, the only difference is not having access to recreational activities and convenient dining setups.

I worked in Midtown until last month. Was very quiet, lots of businesses closed and boarded up. Depressing vibe, bars were serving in front but few customers.

I was working during the riots on 5th ave. That was not fun at all. The aftermath of that was even more depressing.

The crisis is not over for NY or the country. The outlook is not good, society is a burning powder keg and the future uncertain.

I went shopping at a store on 5th ave last week, and walked the whole stretch and then down 57th....it still looks depressing and barely anyone was out on the street. A lot of stores still closed on 5th and boarded up.

I walked around 86th Street and Broadway this week. More homeless than ever.
