Somebody stated in the other thread that they are looking to hire because they are 1000 short on sanitation workers. My cousin works for DSNY as well and he told me the same thing so idk lol

Well all these rumors going around I just hope they are true and they hire. City and state will be getting help from the feds DSNY is down workers so there is like no more excuses lol

Last recession they went 3 years without hiring, and were able to function. Of course I hope they hire soon.

Promotions are a lot more possible since its easier training/processing 30ppl at a time that are already on the job.

The future is way too unpredictable to have an idea of what the department will be able to do.

Like many have said, get all of your affairs in order for now, and most definitely get your CDL on your own.

This is actually a very good point. The problem however is the Mayor wants to reduce the city workforce by another 5000 people through attrition. I don’t think there will be a hiring class this year at all but you better believe the department will have to start hiring in 2022.

Can’t argue the point.....but at some point you have to fill the bodies that are retiring or in this instance getting promoted.......they are short at least 100 supervisors.....if you promote 100 at some point you have replace those bodies lost.....
