Yea, I get that, but you strung soy sauce and non-Chinese made together in the same post when that’s not the reason for why you don’t use soy sauce.
I don’t have much personal experience with the 80s, but I have an idea of what you’re talking about. It seems less like you’re not very adventurous and more like fairly limited. Does Greek or Mexican go too far for you?
Oh I am extremely adventurous when it comes to traveling and trying other things (such as new jobs, career studies, degrees, etc) but no, when it comes to food, I am most certainly a creature of habit and like what I know and want it to stay that way. I have tasted ethnic stuff, but it's not something I enjoy...I just don't like too many spices as so many ethnic foods have or strong smells. If you can give me a chicken pot pie, I'm happy enough.
Greek and Mexican? Yeah, not a fan. I'm an American and I eat classical American foods, the sort you would get in most restaurants up until the 80s.
Did you know that in many parts of America finding anything "garlicky" was considered an extreme rarity and totally off-putting to most American palates? In fact, garlic was considered only for extremely adventurous people into exotic tastes. Same thing with Olive Oil. Before the oil craze, we used to use lard. Then starting some time in the late 80s/90s, things got way more exotic and now they are mainstream.
Are you vanilla across the board or do you have any non-vanilla habits or beliefs ?
To be fair, there are some very picky eaters out there. I have a friend who won’t eat anything that’s white. No onions (not even red onions since they’re white-ish between the layers), no yogurt, no sour cream, no cream sauces in general, no vanilla ice cream. However, loves pizza despite the goopy white cheese. People are like that sometimes.

I'm quite vanilla across the board...although I do tan quite well (not into that though, too superficial).
My beliefs? Hmm, I guess so. I don't want to derail this thread but since you ask, I was raised in a very vanilla Protestant setting, but I am an atheist now, so I guess that is not quite "vanilla".
But yes, as I said above, even "Mexican and Greek" food is kind of out there for me.
Our little grandson is so picky ...he is 5 ...they put pepper on his Mac and cheese at a high end restaurant on wed and he wouldn’t eat it because he said it was dirty ....this kid barely eats anything except about 4 items

I always wondered who an aithiest talks to during sex ?

We love going out to try new restaurants here or abroad and then trying to replicate dishes at home. We actually have deep-seated fears that we’ll somehow end up with a kid that’s that picky.

Well, can't speak for all Atheists, but I'm creative enough to invoke more realistic things...
