The title "Republican" in 2020 is a scarlet letter, which is something the Republican party has worked very hard to achieve, and they finally got their wish. It seems pandering to the lowest common denominator wasn't such a great idea after all, because now it doesn't matter what your policies are, people will stop once they see the letter R next to your name, even if you're not one of those Republicans.
It's been a "scarlet letter" for decades. The stigma didn't start in 2016.
A Giuliani-type Repub mayoral candidate still has a chance with the madness going on. But they have to put an emphasis on improving the MTA(which does NOT include service cuts).
A few months ago, I went to vote and there were no conservative nor Republicans to vote for. However... the NYPD union just endorsed Trump so many people are walking away from leftism and the Democratic Party.
you guys know Bloomberg and Giulianni were pretty much both Republican mayors of NYC, Texas, and um Terminator Cali so honestly what is the point of this thread?
Then look at all the cities in Red states that have Republican Mayors.

It’s definitely worse now. I was a life-long registered Republican until 2016, and proudly voted for Giuliani and Bloomberg. That party is long gone, and most of the NYC Republicans I’ve grown up with have drifted away from the GOP as it has more and more become the party of Trump. Not surprisingly, most of the ones that are still Republicans (and support Trump) are from Staten Island.

takes 2s to debunk this
There are pretty much no Republican mayors of any mid to large cities. Maybe a RINO here and there, but that's it

+1 The putrid smell of Trump is going to stick to the party for a long long time.
No free food, no free housing, no free medical, no free education, no free transportation?
The working class is outnumbered by the non working class.
A slow and deliberate gentrification is the only answer.
If the city can''t make you work it can surely can make you leave!
Then and then only then will a Republican Mayor have half a chance
of being elected to run a big metropolis.
I agree!
