Good!

https://qns.com/story/2020/08/20/cit...broad-channel/

The city has completed phase one of Broad Channel’s extreme makeover.

The ambitious $46 million project raised streets and added nearly half a mile of new storm sewers to reduce flooding in an area that is frequently inundated by Jamaica Bay during high tide and storms.

I wonder how that works when public meets private outdoor property. Like if you have a little front yard, would it be 2 feet lower than the sidewalk? Do people in Broad Channel now have a few fewer stairs leading up to the front door?

Most homes in Broad Channel have to be raised since Sandy (my understanding).

A lot of homes are not raised on this street however, I'm not sure why.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, here's a few houses with only a couple of stairs to the front door, and invitation to flood but maybe they didn't want to deal with what must be the enormous disruption of raising the entire house.

who in thier right mind would want to live on broad channel anyway?
I think this parcel of land should have of never have of been built for living. It should have of been for wildlife preservation.
It is near an airport which is constant noise, not to mention jet fuel in the air, it constantly floods and is in the middle of no where.

I think it was a big mistake to have it residential.

JFK is miles away from BC. Its a nice and safe small community. Only reason I wouldn't live there is because of the water issues.
