I go to Brooklyn College and take the Prospect EXPWY+Ocean Parkway, you literally have to ride the brakes to stay at 25 mph, my car does not have cruise control. And the lights are horribly timed, every single block you get stuck at a red light, and that is the main road Not Church Avenue or Ave C, the main road should have longer greens!

Take a look at this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEWSuC86R-c

The equivalent speed in this video is at least 418 mph, if this is what the road looks like going 400, then 85-90 mph is obviously not a big deal

Lol, ironically enough, I really don’t ever speed. If I get busted for it, I’ll deserve it for not paying enough attention.

All North-South Long Island Expressways: 60 MPH (except the Seaford Oyster Bay EXPWY and the Sagittos PKWY - 65 mph)

Interstate 87: 70 mph

I-95 in New York: 65 mph
I-95 Connecticut: 60 mph
I-91 Connecticut: 80 mph
I don't think the NJ Turnpike goes up to I-287. You might be thinking of the GSP.

And as a Staten Island resident, I think a good amount of portions of the Staten Island Expressway should be 65 mph. The exceptions might be the areas around the West Shore Expressway and MLK interchanges, and also around the curve by Slosson Avenue.

Some portions of the Belt Parkway are curvy and have no shoulders, but there are some portions that are straight where 65 mph would be safe.

Agreed.

It is dangerous to take your eyes off the road to look at the speedometer, just to make sure you aren't accidentally going 57 instead of 55.

The Turnpike goes all the way from the Geo Washington Bridge to Delaware, but the I-95 designation splits off at Exit 6 for I 276 and the Pennsylvania turnpike, it's weird. There's also two spurs through northern new jersey 2 miles apart, and there's a crappy extention that goes to the Holland Tunnel.

https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation...tly%2065%20MPH.

Well there may be hope in sight, but not for decades probably because the progress bar has been at only 2 dots for the last 2 years, but it is ridiculous how NY does not even follow it's OWN rules with speed limits. Allows for 65 mph on 2 lane curvy interstates upstate like I-84 (and there is heavy traffic on that) but not on 4 lane perfectly straight interstates like the Long Island Expressway or Interstate 87 (you have to drive endlessly for it to go up to 65 and then it will drop to 55 and even 45 if you are within 50 miles of a city). Tappanzee Bridge could not be any straighter, 5 lanes wide, and speed limit is, unbelievably 45 mph!!!!! The speed limit is higher on So conduit Ave! Think about that!

Both North and South Conduit Avenues are 35 mph, or at least they were before I left NYC in 2018. They use to be 40mph before DeBlasio and Vehicle Zero.

It is 50 mph next to the belt parkway. Deblasio is worried about people going 30 instead of 25, but is ok with 1 year olds getting shot after defunding the police, he needs to be arrested.
