Nevermind people leaving, just commuters and tourists not coming into NYC hurts the economy. Who is gonna float the subway system cost? It's burned through 2 billion per quarter.

Unemployment which is linked to the shutdown?

I was in Manhattan for six weeks in spring/summer in ‘79 and had a blast. Looking back I think the word “city” was more or less synonymous with “crime.” I was unfazed.

Covid has made me realize something about NYC government. Brooklyn is in charge right now and they’re dumping on Manhattan. What they don’t realize is that Manhattan’s taxpayers are supporting all their programs

What about renters? They can just break their lease, pick up and leave. They don't even have to wait for their place to sell.
