Here's the mandate.
New York State mandate requires everyone to wear a face covering when outside their home if unable to maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others. ... You must wear a face covering at all times when riding public transportation, such as the subway, ferry, bus, taxis, and car services.

Public transportation is a known nexis in nyc for covid. To ignore this rule is virtually unheard of and makes other riders very very uncomfortable. Big money is being spent sanitizing public transportation. I am not surprised that other ferry riders complained.
Not so much for protesting, its really not in the same category.
How do you not know this living in Brooklyn?

The point is that countless BLM protesters were not wearing masks despite not being six feet apart from each other. Were your eyes willfully shut during these protests to not have noticed this?

I have spent countless hours reading what situations are more dangerous for covid infection for personal reasons. There is no comparison.
I can choose not to attend a protest. Not so much public transportation.

Those people at protests went back home to their families and many took public transportation to get to the protests. Their behavior was reckless and illegal. Yet they weren’t arrested for not wearing masks.

How do you know they go back to their families? They probably don't. I don't allow anyone who has protested to come to my house unless they've been tested/clear.
I assume they used a mask on public transportation because I don't see people without them.
I do allow family and friends to visit if they use public transportation. How else would they get to me.
Do you really live in Brooklyn?

Exactly. There would be a major uproar if they had been a pair of blacks. I said many, many years ago that in this country, in the future, the entitled ethnic groups would turn into masters and face no consequences. Today, that is being made a reality, unfortunately (unfortunately, because living in this country is a nightmare now). The justice system will slam you and destroy you for one mistake if you are a law abiding White person, but HEAVEN FORBID you tell a Black troublemaker (when there is one), to obey the rules and laws.

I'm signing out of so much hypocrisy.

How often have you seen this played out.
You think NYPD would reason with 2 black riders for 45 minutes over a mask? And then the guy resists arrest, different outcome for a black man - maybe a little roughing up before the handcuffs? Not for David.
You think it would be a better outcome if they were Black, I think the opposite.
That is exactly what all this protesting is about. But maybe your right and all this protesting is changing things.
Shouldn't matter what color they are. They broke the law.

Oh, I agree that in an ideal world it should NOT matter what color they are. Unfortunately, in 2020 America, the tables have been turned and not for the better because I do really believe that the outcome would not have been the same had they been Black (mainly because now it is seen as racist to apply any law to Black people).

By the way, I also agree that any person who breaks rules that are of general applicability to all and constitutionally reasonable should face consequences.

Sounds fair enough to be cuff up for failing to put on mask. Justice served here.
