Sad because of the loss of jobs, the price of real estate going down and it being a picture of what the economy is going to look like very soon in nys. But I blame whoever voted for deblasio and Andy.

Lack of jobs? Lack of jobs came and left with Amazon when AOC helped them leave.
As for NYC. It deserves all thats coming to it. No empire lasts forever. Once up, then down.

I heard that some of the malls that reopened had lines to get in. The shopping avenue by me has been crowded, and a Gamestop I went to had a decent crowd. Could the Manhattan location be a factor? You have all the workers not there anymore and people could be shopping close to home.

It should be booming though, along with all the other sights and sounds in Manhattan. HY got off to a bad start being new around the pandemic also.

I remember going there and not really seeing the appeal if you are not a tourist.

You can find all those shops on 5th Ave, Madison Ave, SoHo, etc.

Malls in NYC have never done well. And even before Covid, B&M retail was collapsing under the competition with on-line shopping.

They should have not bothered with a mall, and just made some retail tailored to serve the office tenants and eventual residents. Of course, not with Covid, how quickly they'll fill those spaces is also now in question.

The Hudson Yards is a junk project. No one needs anything that those stores sell which can be found in any city or airport across the country. Chances are they already spam your email account with offers.

How about an affordable food court with "flavors" from around the world or even a WALMART in Manhattan to counter act the greed that oozes from a Duane Greed amenities purchase ?

Most of those stores sell Chinese garbage anyway.

Massage parlors from all around the world would have been a lot more enjoyable. Competition would have been fierce.

Tourism is down heavily, when airlines are cutting fleet and cruises are docked. Where else can they find people who would go to Hudson Yards. There's nothing there to do. Everything is ultra expensive and you have to pay near 10% in sales taxes to buy anything. The food court there is also a joke. No seating just stands, expensive burgers, and cafes. Hudson Yards is the perfect example of what's wrong with NYC.
