What is Warren Wilhelm going to do next? Maybe round them up in cattle cars?

That's after the Nov 3 election and the eviction moratorium kicks in, ultra orthodox jews rounded up along with blacks and hispanics. It will be a federal program to cleanse the cities of people on welfare. There will be nice new special Fema housing for that

I said that Ultra-Orthodox Jews receive more welfare, per capita, than any other demographic group in the U.S. I wasn't talking about Jews, or even Orthodox Jews. Just Ultra-Orthodox Jews.

And it's a fact. Consider Kiryas Joel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiryas_Joel%2C_New_York[indent]
According to 2008 census figures, the village has the highest poverty rate in the nation, and the largest percentage of residents who receive food stamps. More than five-eighths of Kiryas Joel residents live below the federal poverty line, and more than 40 percent receive food stamps ...
Residents in zip code 10454 (not known for ultra-orthodox jewish community): 43% Residents with income below the poverty level in 2017; 20% Residents with income below 50% of the poverty level in 2017.

Happens in lots of places.

I've been reading

New York Jewish Week

Covid is spreading again in Orthodox communities. Why are people still not wearing masks?
“It’s a medical emergency,” said a pediatrician in Midwood.

Community leaders aren’t pushing mask wearing.

Nor are they modeling the behavior: No major Hasidic rabbis in New York City have been seen wearing masks. In fact, photographs of large indoor gatherings — weddings, large prayer services and tisches, gatherings in which the rebbe sits at the head of a table surrounded by followers — have circulated on local news sites and social media.

“The main thing is the rebbes are not wearing masks, the rebbes are making minyans,” one Borough Park Hasidic man said.

He spoke anonymously to avoid backlash, noting that most of the rabbis themselves had the virus earlier this year and believe they have immunity.

City officials have tried to spread the word, but their efforts have been limited and not taken up by community leaders. Any possibility for collaboration was undermined this spring and summer as Mayor Bill de Blasio publicly criticized “the Jewish community” for gathering during the pandemic.

“The leaders aren’t saying anything,” another Hasidic man from Borough Park said. “No Hasidic leaders are telling people to put on masks.”

To some, the disregard for masks is evidence of an outlook in which everything in life is up to God.

David Greenfield, a former city councilman who represented Borough Park and is now CEO of the Met Council, a large social service agency that serves many Orthodox Jews, said many were skeptical of the seriousness of the pandemic and the efficacy of masks because that was the message they heard on the news.

“Their main source of news tends to be right-wing news sources,” Greenfield said, noting the popularity of talk radio and conservative news sites in the community. “The right-wing media downplays the effectiveness of masks.”

I went to Yom Kippur services yesterday, run by Chasidim. It was held outside, we were instructed to wear masks (there was a supply on a table in case anyone forgot), and chairs were placed 6 feet apart.

The way you bigots are condemning all ultra-Orthodox Jews is the same way a racist would condemn all blacks for the wrongdoings of a few.

(And remember, Jews as a whole have incomes above average and contribute to the tax base above average. You are zeroing in on a minority of a minority: Jews make up 2% of the population, and ultra-Orthodox less than 10% of THAT. So you're railing on so comfortable - those horrible religious people!!!! - who are around 2/10th of 1% of the population.)

You have a fair concern but where was this Yom Kippur service?

This is about particular neighborhoods and I thought at the beginning of this thread maybe people were just wanting to Jew-bash and I felt like that was what was being done

I already made one point you are making when someone talked about welfare when the topic is about mask wearing and social distancing:

This was my reply to someone asking why Rebublicans dont bash them about being on welfare, like they do blacks and Hispanics and one reason is their small numbers - and voting for Republicans

However on the topic, COVID-19 and the case spike in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods

New York Jewish Week, a publication which has been around for 40 years said:

Being an insular religious community these rabbis are the biggest influence there, add to this a local radio show host protesting against mask wearing and health dept officials trying to stop the spread

I've seen the videos of huge weddings and no one wearing masks.

^^ this is a still from the video of the NYC Health Commissioners David Chokshi and Dr. Dave Chokshi speaking outside in the community and get interpreted by Tischler and Brach. As you can see in the background many of the neighborhood people wearing masks.
yes but despite this anecdotal there are not enough people there following anti-virus, the local radio show host spreading misinformation and they congregate in close proximity more than other communities.
So these rabbis, the leaders of these communities need to change their ways, that is clear
If not, community members thinking for themselves and wearing masks and stop imitating the reckless mask-less behavior of Trump rally audiences

I guess you're upset because he isn't wearing a mask. That's what this thread is about isn't it? I know it's not a political Jew-bashing thread. But the Rabbi in California and this is the NYC thread. Maybe you're confused.

Once again these Hasids are making a stink about social distancing and wearing masks. They called the people here trying to enforce these rules Nazi's and were calling Israeli police the same thing they were trying to enforce it in Israel. These Hasids are a menace.

You won't be laughing if trailers full of dead bodies start showing up on the sides of these hospitals again.
