A Manhattan state Supreme Court judge has rescinded a city permit for a hotly contested plan to build a 775-feet-tall luxury condo tower on the Upper West Side, arguing it defied zoning rules and common logic.
The decision on Friday marks a yet another twist in the years-long saga of 50 West 66th Street, a project proposed by Billionaire's Row developer Extell that was set to become the tallest building on the Upper West Side.
In a ruling over a lawsuit brought by City Club of New York, an urban policy group, Judge Arthur Engoron called the tower design a "blatant jacking-up of close to 200-feet."  |

Didn't the buildings department and/or city council crack down on overblown mechanical voids used to jack up towers?

They should build a mega tower and put all mentality ill people in it. The megatower would fill right up and quickly! |

I'll add to that - let's fill up these luxury towers with mentally ill and homeless. After all, the wealthy residents who buy those properties seem so keen on constantly lecturing the rest us about how compassionate and progressive they are. Let's see them put their (dirty) money where their mouth is. |

Let them design a cuckoo clock at the crest like the old buildings used to have... Think "Metropolitan Life" Bldg on Lower Madison Ave. Fill the place with cuckoos.
