If the communities were really all that upset and concerned about being shut down, all they have to do is get more people in the community to test...presuming that there are more healthy/non-positive people out there that would test negative and bring the positivity rate down.
Could backfire though if there are a lot of people who are actually positive and just asymptomatic.
de Blasio is shutting 9 zip codes down in the city that are experiencing spikes. They are mostly Jewish areas. This is not going to end well. At least if they are in their own areas they are only infecting their own. Shutting down these areas and trying to keep these people in their homes is going to have the opposite effect. They are going to fill the streets protesting screaming how Willhem is a Nazi (which is hilarious) Maybe they will vote for Trump and give him New York.
Im in one of these areas and was expecting this. I saw some outreach workers Sat trying to give out masks.
Its like a viral game of whack a mole-numbers go down one place, up another, shudowns and back again.
Are you seeing any signs that things really are going downhill? More ambulances, hearing of people getting sick? I can't understand if this is real or some kind of manufactured crisis.
I've heard some crazy stuff about the Orthodox community. Apparently they've been traveling abroad quite a bit. I hope they didn't bring a new strain over here or something. Although, to be fair, I've been hearing equally crazy stuff about the non-Orthodox communities - indoor birthday parties with eating and no masks, really?
My kid's school has been affected. They've been doing everything right, not a single case. WTF. The kid nearly went crazy (literally) by August because she was at home, and it's not like she was completely isolated. We were going places and playing with other kids on the playground - just no regular interaction with the same group of friends. If this drags on we'll be looking for a therapist in no time, and IDK how we'll pay for it because I'll have quit my job to watch her. Many of her classmates' parents are in medicine, so great, now they'll have to stop treating patients so they can help their kids do Zoom meetings. So mad.
