That is a load of horse Sh*t. The purpose of wearing a mask is for you (the mask wearer) to not spread your germs. The CDC pointed this out ad nauseam but yet some of you simps either can't or don't want to listen. When these cults decide not to abide by these warnings they spread this deadly virus to not only themselves but anyone else close by. Look at that video posted by jonbenson. They are right on top of each other and yet only a few are wearing masks or social distancing. These people are not normal. They live by their own rules.

I don't think it's logical to close down businesses, put people on the unemployment line, keep them at home, and otherwise subject them to a lifestyle that they're not used to living in. The policy is not balanced.

According to the NY Post more than 32,000 New Yorkers have died from the Coronavirus, hardly anything
but what do you think the numbers would be now if there had restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters etc had not been shut down? Maybe 32,050 ? What is your estimate?

You are living in fear. Do you have any idea how many strains of bacteria, flu, germs, parasites, STD's and other nasties are out there? People carry germs on their skins, bodies, etc. It is up to you as an individual to wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough, not have promiscuous sex, take showers, clean your clothes, and most of all, eat the right foods.
And your statement about "these people are not normal" is untrue. They simply refuse to live in fear. Life goes on. If one of them catch the flu, well let them deal with it.

We don't' know that those numbers are accurate. I have read that the inability of healthcare technicians to properly use the ventilators have actually killed patients - not COVID. But even if these numbers were correct, what percentage is 32,050 out of a population of 18,804,000? Very small. And sorry, but I don't believe closing the city has done anything to bring down the number. Everyone will catch it eventually. And those who have died had underlying conditions - this is a fact, it wasn't covid that killed them, it was their pre-existing condition. But that's what happens when people eat garbage, and are obese. If not Covid, then some other flu.

32,000 deaths is hardly anything but you're saying if the city had been functioning normally, subways packed at full capacity, restaurants open, bars open , Broadway shows and movie theaters, etc etc
if everything had been open
you're saying that whatever the death figure is now 32,000, or 20,000 whatever it is it would be basically the same with no shut down and no masks?

Are we going to stay shut down forever? We will all catch it, just like we’ve all caught a common cold or the flu itself. It’s already out there - there is no retracting it. Therefore, I cannot stress how important it is for individuals to take personal responsibility with their own healths by consuming the right foods - those which strengthen the immune system and to avoid those that weaken it. While out of respect for others and because it’s required, I do wear a mask, I know deep down inside that mask wearing is basically to offer a false sense of security.
Mask wearing is not what is going to save unhealthy people from getting sicker - maybe in the short term. But that is not how people should go about to strengthen their immune systems!

Of course it would have been more. And then the person in the ER with a broken leg or arm would prolly have to wait until all the Covid patients were admitted before they get seen. All people care about is eating in restaurants and drinking in bars, which by the way aren't even healthy practices to begin with (the bars definitely, restaurants depending on their menu).

To answer your question:
Probably. But a complete shut down coupled with social isolation would also slow down and prevent:
- HIV
- The common cold
- Ebola
- Turberculosis
- Dengue
- Malaria
- Chickenpox
- Giardiasis
- Infectious mononucleosis
- E. Coli
- Influenza
- SARS coronavirus
- Hepatitis A and B
- Prions
- Cholera
- Anthrax
- Meningitus
- Hand, foot and mouth disease
- Human papillomavirus (HPV)
- Pneumocystis pneumonia
- Herpes
- Measles
- Scarlet Fever
- Autoimmune hepatitis
- Epstein Barr
- Any hospital acquired infection
- human papillomavirus
- Shingles
....and many more of which all of the above have caused deaths of millions of people.
Now let me ask you a question: Do you think that the solution to stop the spread of the above named infectious diseases would be to force everyone to forever wear a mask and to keep socially distant?

^^ I like the logic here, as a byproduct of wearing a mask for COVID which is much more contagious than flu, the mask wearing could also reduce the flu this year
- but since we don't normally wear masks we shouldn't wear masks now
great logic here
