NYPD officers attempted to disperse a massive street celebration in Crown Heights on Monday night, prompting indifference and hostility from Orthodox revelers who continued dancing even in the face of police orders.
The stand-off unfolded in the intersection Kingston Avenue and Montgomery Street, where hundreds of Hasidic Brooklynites, many of them unmasked men, had gathered late Monday evening as part of a nightly celebration marking the weeklong Sukkot holiday.

Hundreds of members of Brooklyn's Orthodox community stormed the streets and synagogues of Borough Park on Tuesday night to protest new coronavirus restrictions imposed by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Pledging "war" on officials and public health guidance, demonstrators clad in black religious garb set fires along 13th Avenue and tossed masks into the flames. They chased away NYC Sheriff's Deputies while shouting "Jewish Lives Matter," video shows, and attacked a photojournalist attempting to capture the scene.
Another Orthodox man, who'd opposed the anti-mask crowd, was deemed a "snitch" and reportedly hospitalized after a mob of protesters beat him with rocks. His brother, Mordy Getz, told Gothamist that he was "severely" injured and knocked unconscious, but was doing better as of Wednesday morning.

Cuomo is the one about enforcement and is getting together the task force, De Blassio is cooperating. I think they are going to allow a a couple of days of protests maybe so people can vent, and then hey are going to shut down places and penalize if necessary using a combination of health department personnel and NYPD. IT's going to happen like it did with bars and restaurants getting penalized after first, many ignoring guidelines

I see they're already doing some lite rioting themselves (burning masks). Which doesn't surprise me one bit, when all we've been hearing from every media source for months is that rioting is good, glorious, and an expression of just anger by the oppressed. The city administration sent a very clear message that this is the only language they understand, and that they consider protests exempt from every rule in the book unless they're much, much more violent.
Oh well. In Israel, anyone who tangles with this group regrets it very badly afterwards. This isn't Israel, and they're not nearly as numerous, but they sure are organized. And while I don't hold with a lot of what they're doing, and think they may have brought this on themselves and their neighbors, I am glad they're pushing back. Someone has to push back. I don't know if the mayor and the governor realize that to save the village, they're going to destroy it.

What is your suggestion then to slow down the spread to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed? Just walk around as if everything is normal? Give me a break. If we know how COVID worked, it would be one thing, but there are a lot of unknowns at the moment for something that is temporary. Once a vaccine comes into play to treat this, we will eventually go back to normal. I don't understand all of your complaining. Some of what you say about unhealthy lifestyles is true, but mask wearing has been shown to be effective, since the virus is airborne.
The idea is to reduce the chances of getting it, which is what mask wearing does. You wear a mask to reduce the chances of spreading whatever you have to everyone else, and the next person does the same thing. It's pretty simple.

Vaccine wont matter when 60% of the country refuses to get it. There going to have to come and drag me out of my house to inject me with this rushed crap. We live in a free country, wouldn't shock me if they try and mandate it. I'm legally armed so, there is that!
