Well the Republican candidate for Queens Borough is mailing out ads. One of those ads is a Halloween themed one showing that if the other major candidate will be elected it will be creepy!
This came in a work email that I received from NYC Department of Records:
"The Office of the Borough President was created in 1898 to compensate the formerly independent communities in the four counties of New York, Kings, Queens and Richmond for the loss of governmental power to the consolidated Greater City of New York. They operated as "local mayors," with substantial control over construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, highways, sewers and public buildings."

So essentially promises made, promises broken. I wonder if the citizens of Brooklyn, etc., would have agreed to consolidation (and, note, there has long been talk of election fraud in that vote anyway, but I digress) if they thought that their borough presidents would eventually become essentially toothless In any case, I think it's for the best. We are a unified city and should have a government that reflects this.
