So many people I know lost their jobs...including me so do I feel bad for the MTA...Nope! They been wasting and over spending money for years on end that they now need to fire people. Blame yourself MTA and also blame the politicians for closing everything so people don't need to go anywhere anymore.

I'm almost glad covid hit when it did. I was offered a safety position in the MTA and everything was put on hold halfway through the process in the hiring freeze. I'm sure my butt would be out the door in a few weeks instead of sticking around my old job.

Damn, 9300 laid off. How the hell will they change any lightbulbs now that there are only 4 people supervising the guy doing the work instead of 5 people

MTA unions and management would probably be too selfish to take a pay cut to avoid such deep layoffs

No, because if they delivered the same crappy level of service for less pay that would make everyone realize that should be the new going rate.

I sure wish they'd target the ones that deserve firing.

18 months ago I turned down the Track worker's job. I was conflicted about it but couldn't justify the pay cut, even while weighing the benefits package and the pension. If I was in my late 20's early 30's I probably would have taken it, and I would probably be out the door now.
