Good for them. Nicely designed apartment, well appointed.

Yeah. I'm with you on that one. You say apt (regardless of actual ownership or not) to distinguish it from say a house. When you send invites, you say "dinner party at 8 PM at my apt", you don't say "dinner party at my co-op!" Unless it's deliberate because you just purchased it and it's a housewarming party. It just sounds weird/stilted otherwise.

My Con Edison bill puts a 'PH' after my address for 'private house' which is an old NYC term. You either lived in an apartment building or a private house. The 'private' part is weird when you think about it. National Grid bill puts a 'PD' after my address for 'private dwelling' which is a more modern term. The utilities probably do that because they always have going back to the pre-computerized days.

PH? When I see that, I think Penthouse which also, is an apartment. It just happens to be on the top floor. LOL.

There exists a boy that puts up with your leftist bs? Let me guess - his favorite beverage is a soy latte?

I forgot that 'PH' is the modern real estate abbreviation for 'Penthouse'. Ha!

If you saw what I looked like, you'd be drooling and wetting your pants, and not from pee. Except you would never be able to have me. I'm selective. So bugger off.

LOL You're the one that keeps going on ad nauseam about something that is so irrelevant to a bunch of strangers on a forum nonetheless. Would you like a gold medal because you own your apartment in.... Parkchester? LOL I mean really, good for you, but I'm sorry to tell you that no one gives a **** if you rent or own, at least not here in NYC. That goes for me, or anyone else here.

Most of my relatives own apartments or houses. None of them go out of their way to constantly say that they own where they live. It just seems so foolish. You need to talk to your neighbor and shake some sense into her, for she has lost it.

Whatever. I call my condos whatever I want to call them, and mention the matter only when an actual question arises whether something was bought or rented (as someone other than me mentioned earlier in the thread about this unit). I am not the one of the two of us obsessed with elegance and affluence :-). I am still marveling at that one unforgettable moment when you said that some affluent family obviously must have built the Kingsbridge Armory (armories obviously being public buildings :-).

Most public buildings of that era were built by foundations formed by the affluent. So he's not wrong.

An armory is built and used by the Army. The building becomes private if it is sold to a private party, but no "affluent" build armories. The only financial foundation for building armories are the taxpayers.
