We had a few shootings just after NYE, in areas already affected by high crime. One woman shot randomly laying in bed. These areas have some people who work, raise families and do not want to be there. Its hard even in normal times to save up a pile of $$$ to pick up and start over esp living in NYC. They are stuck behind enemy lines, with people of the same color. And nothing changes. And with the law being on the side of the criminals now, the rest of us have to deal with part of this too. Calendar changed, nothing else did.

You won't, because they don't want to get hurt. They only act if they have superior numbers. It's been that way in NYC since the 70's. Maybe tie funding and compensation to results like they do in other industries.
They were defunded. By a billion dollars. The crime squad was also debanded.

There are enough people around who know what happened in the 90's to beat the drum. And a lot of the younger white liberals haven't really experience real crime will be, or maybe already are horrified by what they're seeing. They're will be a backlash. I'm hoping it's big enough.

It will take more than a few years for the public to get fed up. Remember we had to go through a good part of the 60’s, all of the 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s before there was public will to do anything about it.

Yes, $1 Billion out of a NYPD budget of 11 Billion, and a $92.5 Billion total NYC budget during a pandemic. That's a trivial amount compared to cuts in other industries this year. And the thread topic is ridiculous. NYC doesn't have a murder rate of 41%. As of Dec 27 there were 447 murders for the year. In 1990, there were 2,262 murders in NYC. How is that our "darkest days"? Or is it just PR? And NYC is among the 5 most policed cites in the country. "NYC tied with Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Newark, and Chicago, for the most law enforcement employees per capita."

Surges 41%, not *to* 41%, lol. Terrible misread. Think 41 of every 100 people were killed in NYC in 2020? Given 447 murders, the murder rate in actuality surged to 0.005321428%, if we estimate the population at 8,400,000 (admittedly a pre-Covid estimate).

Amazing we're not hearing more about this unfathomably tragic loss of life outside of NYC.

41% of what. So 41% of New Yorkers were murdered this month? What?

Typical NY Post alarmist article and garbage title. This forum has become a misery circle jerk for displaced Stormfront posters and r/thedonald refuges. Useful information on NYC is all but dead here.
Unless the link was changed since initial posting, the Guardian headline included is not to blame, as said headline includes the preposition 'to'.

Joggers don't like to work. Joggers are out in Costco parking lots wearing expensive timberland boots hassling people for money with a sob story about how broke they are. They want what hardworking people earn but without putting in the effort. This is why crime is so high where there are lots of joggers.
'Joggers outfitted in Timberland boots in Costco parking lots hassling people for money with sob stories' might have the 41% murder rate assertion beat for 'most entertaining facet of this thread'. I'm um 58 + 41% sure that autocorrect let you down here and selected 'joggers' where you meant 'beggars', but what do I know.

Keep hanging on to that belief my man. Like I said, as long as it stays in the hoods that wanted this crap, most people won't care anyway.

I highly doubt Brooklyn or Bronx shootings/murders will touch us in NJ once we ditch this bizzaro city for good.
Even Republican city's saw a increase in murders.

But of course Conservatives will ignore the facts.
