I can’t find any information on how to get my 75+ permanently homebound mother vaccinated in NYC.
Does anyone have any information? Thank you in advance.
This is all I found... DOH is considering doing home visits, but they're not doing them yet: https://gothamist.com/news/nyc-aims-...community-hubs Keep an eye on the news, hopefully they will announce the rollout of these visits in the next week or two... if I see something more, will come back here and post the info.
That is a good question as my elderly mother who lives in another state also doesn't leave home any more due to having a mild heart attack at the beginning of the pandemic.
I am sure they will roll out house visits for inoculations, but right now the vaccines are very scarce. and the waiting times are likelyn to be long, FOR ALL.
As long as your grandmother is homebound, she is relatively safe.
Lets hope the vaccines are as protective as the Pharmas are claiming. If they are lying, we may be facing an extinction event.
While it’s important to get her vaccinated. She could apply once the municipal vaccination center opens up for next risk group.
If i was running the CDC I would run vaccinations the other way. Have people who are more active get the vaccine quickly to flatten the infection curve. I would vaccinate elderly people last.
Because elderly are not the spreaders and if they get covid their survival rate is lower regardless. So we are not doing a good job flattening the spread using this model.

Agreed, if she is homebound her risk of getting Covid is relatively low, right now they're concentrating on people who are most at risk, since--as others have stated--the vaccine is scarce and on top of that they have to reserve vials for the second dose.
Thanks for your replies. I agree that homebound elderly are at low risk if they don’t live with family that must leave the home for work. I share a home with my mom and I’m an essential worker. I provide care for her too. While I’m always extremely cautious I still worry always. Getting her vaccinated as soon as possible would make me much less anxious.

Hi! I don't know if you're still hanging around, but in case you see this - there's a program now to vaccinate homebound seniors. The sign-up is here: https://forms.cityofnewyork.us/f/homebound
