Nothing wrong with living safely in an orderly society (what you bizarrely call "sheep", but is much more accurately called freedom from dumb danger). But go ahead, by all means, do get killed at an early age, or become paraplegic for the rest of a pathetic life from a bullet through the spinal cord, if you consider that much more cool!

Have you been to Singapore (or in fact any place other than NYC)? It is equally or more thrilling and cosmopolitan than NYC, but totally absolutely completely safe, at any hour of day or night. I would live there in a heartbeat if it weren't for complications of moving overseas in my 60s, and restrictions on immigration.
Singapore is more like an utopian oasis than this sewer city we call NYC. Over there criminals have to run and hide because the people will report any suspicious activity and the police are cheered to be summoned and perform judge and jury on the spot against criminals. Well in general crime and punishment is much more severe in the East than the West. The stuff we allow criminals get away with here is major punishment in Asia. If you were caught with gun possession it is death sentence in many Asian countries. Illegal drugs is also very serious felony while we're busy legalizing weed they will lock you away for some good hard times if caught. This is why often Westerners get in trouble as tourists in Singapore, they don't understand how severe the punishment is for possession of controlled substance.

Most people commit crimes ALL THE TIME and don't even realize or do it and just don't get caught. The US is number 1 among developed nations when it comes to incarceration. LOL.

Maybe you are talking about yourself here, but if you are, you should realize that most other people don't do what you are doing. The vast majority of people never commit any crime. And criminals of course realize when they commit a crime, unless they are drugged out of their mind or insane.

Possession or consumption of Marijuana in Singapore can result in a maximum of 10 years in prison, with a possible fine of $20,000, as well as caning, under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Trafficking, import or export of more than 500 grams may result in the death penalty.

Do you think this is a good policy? I'm not saying for the U.S. but in general?

Some societies have intrinsic need for peace and civility, recognizing that a far more complex and interesting life can be had when threats of brute violence and theft are absent.

In societies that respect and understand only violence, yes, a huge police force and severe punishments are the only key to peace.

Are there some societies that respect something other than only violence or is that all societies?

There are plenty of societies that respect almost anything more than they respect violence. Even in micro-societies such as gated communities, violence is highly undesirable, not respected in any way, and is kept out by any means possible. There are countries (eg, Scandinavian countries) with fairly lax laws but very little violence, because the population does not value or respect violence, there is no culture of violence/crime.

So if peace is maintained in Singapore only because they only respect violence and have a huge police force and corporeal punishment what are some of these other societies? Modern ones that aren't small villages?

It's a peculiar question: How can we get Criminals to follow laws?

rather than "how do we get people to follow laws?"

Lol. Criminals don’t follow laws. That’s why they are criminals.
