There are numerous articles out that show that the younger generations are staying at home longer, or if they do move out, they move back in because they can't afford to live on their own.
No people CAN afford to live out of their parents house. Millions are doing so everyday. You are just part of the problem making constant excuses. It's called money management and independence. It's why your generation is so spoiled, entitled and all about me me me.

Consider your son lucky. Just because it didn't happen to him doesn't mean it isn't a problem. https://nypost.com/2019/06/29/cuny-b...ollments-boom/

Uhh... Yes... Plenty of people are looking for cheaper options... https://nypost.com/2019/06/29/cuny-b...ollments-boom/
Ok so overcrowding, that's not waitlisted. That's not, not being able to attend. Ny-ers are used to everything being crowded so what.

There have been some at some CUNY schools going back to 2010... Hunter College regularly has waitlists. Just shows how tone deaf you are.

If they are waitlisted they start the next semester. You're making it seem like people are waitlisted therefore can't attend at all and have to go to another school and pay 60K a year.
Common man. Simply put people CAN go to school cheaper if they want. There is no need to go 6 figures in debt. People who are are choosing to.

There's no more open enrollment so CUNYs are a lot harder to get into than they used to be. So it's not as if everyone who applies is going to get in. But unfortunately CUNYs also have a pretty high drop out rate, so it's a lot easier to get in by transferring after attending a year or 2 of community college.

Co-op studios can be a good buy for this purpose, if you plan to stay for a few years

This thread is a perfect example of why I hardly post anymore.

The OP asked for advice on buying instead of renting in their early 20's, folks came in and gave reasons on why they shouldn't and why they should. Sounds reasonable enough...

Then came about 5 pages of bickering back and forth while OP done checked out since the first page and somehow it ended up talking about colleges??

Makes a good popcorn munching read though.
