I'm looking for suggestions in regards to places that make good spicy Bajan fish cakes or something very similar since, as I understand it, a lot of Anglo Caribbean / West Indian countries sometimes have fairly closely shared foods. No particular locality necessary aside from probably NYC and maybe a bit of the suburbs--I have to travel quite a bit for work in the area, so it's going to be pretty random chance when I pass through one place or another.

A while back I went to Culpepper's in Prospect Lefferts Garden and had some of their fish balls / fish cakes.

They look like these

I got about a half dozen on a lark because they were cheap at less than a dollar per and they were fantastic. Culpepper's a bit of a distance from me and I don't find myself in the area very often. I also don't particularly like deep frying at home.

Oven Baked Fish Cakes | How to make healthier fish cakes

this baked recipe looks good, see the picture. procedure is easy. It has one hard to find ingredient but health food and some gourmet stores have it, tapioca flour). It uses fresh fish. I prefer fresh cod over the salted bacalhau. also has egg.
could make 20, freeze 10, Some ingredients optional

I’ve gotta go back there when it gets warmer. I like the flying fish and cou cou. You should stop at Allan’s Bakery across the street when you’re around there.
