While trains and subway system overall is filled with homeless during day and evening hours, when system shuts down from 1AM -5AM they are SOL. It's out in the cold to find someplace else to keep warm instead of riding trains all night.

While it seems every TD Bank in city has become homeless shelter since covid-19 panic, the past week or so with very cold weather had doubled down on those numbers. You walk past say 86th and Lexington or 85th and Third and there's one, two, three or four people camped out.

Monday on "Q" both going downtown and returning back uptown later nearly every car had at least one or two homeless.

Thought city was spending billions to put homeless up in hotels, what's up with people still out in the cold?

Many feel safer not being in the shelter. Fights, drugs, unsanitary conditions and the risk of having what little they own stolen keeps them away. In warmer climates tent cities form as communities, where there is more trust and a better sense of security then the shelters.

Whenever I go into NYC and take the subways these days I see NYPD with the gloves on removing homeless people from certain stations. Because it's gotten bad at some stations where people can't even go through the turnstile without being blocked or harassed.

Churches own lots of real estate. You would think Jesus would come in and help those poor souls out. House them and heal them.

Boston is colder than NYC and have been doing this for years and no one complains. Their subway system is much cleaner too. NYC tries it, everyone complains its inhumane. So people want them out because they stink, take up seating, and its unsightly but on the other hand people want them in because its inhumane and they trying to stay warm.

Cant please everyone.
I personally want them out, especially when they are sleeping on the train taking up 4-5 seats.

Keeping poor people cold makes rich people feel better keeping warm.

Please. If it wasn't for those filthy rich NYC wouldn't be able to offer a fraction of the homeless services it offers.

Hardly silly, Judeo-Christian wisdom and mythos is the bedrock of modern civilization, even if you do not believe in any devine figure.

There is a growing group of people known as Christian Atheists who understand this truth
