I'd like some info on fieldston... there's a 1 bedroom coop in a building on fieldston rd for a decent price... i drove around the area and it looks very suburban, right up the block were huge mansions. I'm just worried, do you think nearby residents would be a little snobby? Is this a boring neighborhood for a 24 year old? Thanks!

is that Fieldston rd and 255th street? I live near there. Yes, boring for a 24 year old but very safe. Area is so quiet why would snobby residents be a concern? There's no place really around there to hang out with them and interact

Yeah nice area but you might get bored being 24.

The area in Riverdale around Johnson ave & 235th has a lot more going on, however it still might not be enough for you. Riverdale has more of an older, family oriented feel to it. Not too much nightlife going on. However if you are looking for a nice safe area, Riverdale is definitely a good pick.

Its not the best place for a 24 year old as far as I am concerened. Then again I do not know your priorities/needs. You are going to be hard pressed for any kind of socializing with locals, unless you want to stalk the college students.

my daughter's about your age in lives in Riverdale on Netherland and 255 -- she hates the whole train situation and wants to move somewhere where there's better access.

Why don't you try Concourse Village. You'll have easy access to the 2,4,5,B,D subway trains, express bus to manhattan, and highways. It's the Yankee Stadium area. Great parks to relax (more to come in the future), new mall complex under development, and future Metro North station. First stop in the Bronx on the 2, 2nd stop on the 4,5 (1st if express - skips 138) and 1st stop on the B,D train. Great coops in the area. Search Grand Concourse, yankee, or walton on craigslist.
