NYC will be die even sooner if these leftists pass these laws and get the governor to approve them.
Wall Street will leave in large mass this time as they've mostly sat home this pandemic and will move operation very easily once NASDAQ and the exchanges all move out.
Or they could just fully legalize weed, prostitution and Gambling and have a budget surplus.
But the middle class is too stupid to lobby and vote in their best interests.
They are doing those things. The problem with NY is that they want MORE. Our state politicians believe that any money held in the hands of a private person was ALLOWED by the government. Therefore, if they want more, they are entitled to get it back.
I think you overestimate how much these would generate. PA is the not gaming tax collector in the country (not NV), and they take in about $1.5 billion. Colorado brought in about $32 million in taxes from marijuana sales. And prostitution is just never going to be legalized.
Right now the NYS budget deficit is in the double digit billion dollar range.

As usual everything out of Albany and City Hall is a crock of s*****
Il Duce and Sam The Eagle were crying how state and city were going to be busted due to covid. That didn't happen in huge part because income and sales taxes were off the hook bringing in tons of revenue. Then Schumer raided the US treasury and made sure NYS and NYC got bank out of recent $1.9 *TRILLION* dollar stimulus package.
Liberal, left, progressive socialist tax and spend democrats still aren't happy. They want more money to give away to usual suspects; the ever broke and busted. They feel have Cuomo by short and curlies given his current predicament to make this happen.
It's always same GD thing with this welfare state and city. More money for the *poor* and busted who seem not to do anything else but specialize in remaining so. Meanwhile everyone else is busting a move and getting out of this state and city, tired of having their pockets picked.
So you want a bunch of debt ridden crack head pot smoking hookers wandering up and down your block? What fools.
Go visit the red light district in Amsterdman and tell me if you'd raise kids there.
Weed isn’t crack lol , alcohol is a more expensive and dangerous substance then weed is . Prostitution should not be legal I agree , for ethical reasons . Woman are still doing it tho
This only makes sense on the federal level, though maybe can work to some degree with SALT deductions. Really though, having this on the state level doesn't make sense as SALT deductions are not guaranteed to be very stable as we've seen recently.

Let's assume all of these money making schemes work perfectly and the government has a flood of cash coming their way.
Who here thinks the money is going to be spent the right way? We'll be funding drag queens reading children's books to our toddlers, setting up cheerleading water tables at the southern border for illegals and funding gender studies programs for hardcore muslims in Pakistan.
This city, state and country are compromised. It's all good though because at least we got rid of trump, right?
They better not be counting on this to balance the budget. The very rich have many, many ways to evade taxes without even changing where they live, never mind that NY is not the attractive place to live it once was. Would be funny if they pass all these laws, and discover that they apply to just two people who hadn't been paying attention.
