The Federal Highway Administration gave the green light to the MTA’s plan to toll drivers entering Manhattan below 60th Street.

Federal officials told the MTA it must conduct a less rigorous, and faster, environmental assessment of the proposal

MTA officials blamed the Trump administration for stalling on the congestion pricing plan, which first passed in Albany in 2019

To bad Trump couldn't squash it permanently.

Of course, now no one is bothering to drive into midtown. This just gives more people another reason to work from their suburban home offices.

Seriously, maybe pre covid they could’ve implemented it but right now it would just be another reason for businesses to move out.

Uh plenty of people are driving into Manhattan. Apparently, you don't follow the news or anything else, or just look at Manhattan streets. Plenty of vehicular traffic.

Every business or service that must go or is located below 59th street will simply either raise prices, or add a "Congestion Pricing Surcharge". That is unless businesses like say UPS don't want to be bothered breaking things down to above or below 59th street and just raise prices across the board.

In any event prices for all sorts will simply continue to cost more than just across the river in NJ, out on LI or even Westchester.

There really isn't any way to escape this; online sales will likely charge a fee or whatever to recoup CPS costs, if you drive out to NJ, LI or Westchester you'll pay coming back into Manhattan if live below 59th street.
