Says “Obsession with Race Must Stop”. Didn't somebody well known (the name escapes me) do the same thing at another NYC private school for pretty much the same reason(s)? Sounds familiar.
The father of a Brearley School student has pulled her from the school, citing its practice of “anti-racism” as the catalyst in a lengthy April 13 letter he wrote and sent to the almost 600 private school families.
He opened his letter with a statement that his family “no longer believe[s] that Brearley’s administration and Board of Trustees have any of [their] children’s best interests at heart,” adding that he no longer believes their “daughter will receive the quality of education necessary to further her development into a critically thinking, responsible, enlightened, and civic minded adult.”
I'm pretty sure that Megyn Kelly's daughter was at Spence, not Brearley. But anyway, all private prep schools seem to have followed the same path. Chapin, next door to Brearley, has, too. When Chapin (which was always considered to be more conservative, in a patrician way) goes woke, it tells you something REALLY went wrong somewhere along the way...
Anyway, a little while ago, another poster was convinced that most prep schools were basically dominated by rich Republicans. When I asked him/her to give us just one or two examples of conservative or moderate-leaning independent private schools in NYC, he/she never did. I doubt there are any, at this point. Would be very happy to be proven wrong, though.

I can't take Gutmann seriously after reading the below statement:
“We have not had systemic racism against Blacks in this country since the civil rights reforms of the 1960s, a period of more than 50 years. To state otherwise is a flat-out misrepresentation of our country’s history and adds no understanding to any of today’s societal issues. If anything, longstanding and widespread policies such as affirmative action, point in precisely the opposite direction."
We have plenty of personal and incidental racism. But systemic institutional racism? Not any more. Of course a lot of what the rate baiters call racism, is the result of and caused by the actions of those claiming to be discriminated against.

Move out of the city, or even the state. Find a district with high quality public schools, and put them in there. Don't pay multiple ten of thousands of dollars in tuition. May have to pay high property taxes. But at least those are partially deductible, and may soon be fully deductible on federal taxes.
For extra credit, run for and get on the local school board, and have some control of the system.

For $54k a year, he can hire multiple Columbia grad students as tutors for homeschooling, either as a bridge til another school is located, or as the final plan til college. I know of people having done similar things. Doesn't sound like a guy who wouldn't have a solid alternative plan for his kid. It doesn't sound as though he (and likely the kid herself) was bothered just by wokeness, but by the school curriculum in general.
