The four-story building on the corner of 84th Street and Broadway looks distinctly modern. The Broadway Fashion Building, located at 2315 Broadway, is constructed almost entirely of glass and metal, the style of much of the city’s latest architecture.
Looks can be deceiving, however. A trained eye might notice the white terracotta and the wavy design of the roofline, which, along with the overall design of the building, indicate its original, Art Deco roots. For nearly 90 years, the Broadway Fashion Building has managed to look modern, maintaining a timelessness that is rarely seen in architecture.

I have seen some other buildings elsewhere from around 1930 that look similar (there is one very similar but larger in Boston area). What is different from modern glass skyscraper ugliness is the metal grid of multisection windows, glass walls that resemble huge American Craftsman windows. That actualy looks interesting, rather than just plain plate glass without any decorative metal grid. I wouldn't mind if they were still building something like this rather than what they are building nowadays.
I have been at friends' places inside these new buildings that have huge plate glass walls, and they are cool from the inside, it feels like floating in the air, but the buildings are surely ugly from the outside, nothing but vertical acres and acres of plain glass.

You're right. I agree. It's ugly from the outside but wow when you're inside looking out.
