Well right now we are going through a moral panic. The moral panic right now in America especially in the affluent English speaking world is at its height. The whole Antiracism stuff, gender and sex orientation dialog is mainly happening in the societies I have mentioned due to liberal and individualist notions of our society as well as Protestantism. Also these ideas are formed in academia and pushed out through all sectors of society. I understand and I agree with what happen to George Floyd was wrong. But don't make all cops appear as bad guys. As a society we have been though this before with the satanic panic in the 80s and anti communist panic during the 40s,50s and 60s. Only time will tell when the Antiracism panic will die down. And yes racism is bad and I don't agree with white supremacy. Sadly racism is a fabric of humanity. If activist want to rid the world of humanity. Build a device and ram an asteroid through the earth and call it a day. I say this as a person of color btw.

It's become a business. In essence it's a gold rush.
So many cops are leaving. But are new cops being hired to replace them ? So if folks are willing to take the job then what's the problem. I would say many cops are leaving because the pandemic has many outcomes and their spouses working at home, and a greater importance on things not only money have caused people to reevaluate. In my job, which is a white collar job many people who have attained the requisite age and years of service have also left in droves too.
Umm, yes you Leftists did. You guys spent the last few years vilifying an entire profession for a few bad apples. When you “defund” the police, you are essentially saying an entire department are villains.
That comment does not make sense it's just a broad generalization. " Leftist " is just a slur the way you used it to depersonalize a group of people you think you disagree with. NYC is a liberal city, on the left, which has led to the benefits and higher salary for City employees, teachers, fireman, police officers. I am a progressive and support that even for police. I live in the inner City, and we pay taxes. Lower middle class people pay a higher proportion of our income on taxes. We support the Police but disapprove of bad policing. There is a difference.
100% agree. That's why I am all for defunding. Let the places that hate the police get what they want. I was saying it way back when Impact was a thing. Why were they flooding crap neighborhoods that hated the cops when they could've flooded neighborhoods like mine that love the cops? Let us have them!
However, that is based on your presumption that the majority of people in so called crap neighborhoods indeed don't support the cops. I don't agree with your assessment. Also don't know what a crap neighborhoods is, I guess you conclude crap neighborhoods are full of crappy people. Nice neighborhoods filled with people of greater value . If that is your belief how does your belief dictate your conduct ?
Why do some neighborhoods love the cops ? Why don't all neighborhoods love the cops ? Could it be the cops treat people of certain crap neighborhoods like crap ?Where is the chicken and where is the egg here ?

Couldn't care less any more. The pension check doesn't require me to expound on these issues. My only concern is that good cops wake the heck up and stop risking themselves needlessly.

Bad cops are like bad Priests, teaches, ministers. People tend to trust, respect, and love their authorities. When a bad Priest abuses children he made all Priests look bad which was unfair. However, when Bishops cover up for bad Priests people lose trust in the institution. Most Cops are regular folks, whom are like me, flawed but trying to be fair and good. But when Police unions defend officers who did bad things people lose trust.
