I read an interesting article this weekend in the WSJ that mentioned crime is up in every major city in the country, including in red states.
Crime rates are most often driven by economic disparity.
NYC is not alone in suffering from awful economics from the last year.
NYC has made no major changes to its policing policies in the last year:
Uniform and civilian overtime reduction- $352.2 million
Move School Safety Agents from NYPD to DOE - $307.5 million
Cancel July Police Academy class - $55 million
Move School Crossing Guards from NYPD - $42.4 million
Increased revenue from moving 165 TEAs to enforcement - $42 million
Reduce contract and other non-personnel expenses - $12 million
TEA vacancy reduction - $5.4 million
Delay delivery of fleet vehicles - $5 million
Hiring freeze on non-safety positions - $5 million
Move Homeless Engagement Unit from NYPD - $4.5 million
Cancel NYPD FY21 cadet class - $4.2 million
Conveniently, you left out disbanding the unit literally named "anti-crime". Lol
A nationwide rise in crime is wonderful. It proves that cops everywhere are getting the message. Less cops hurt, killed and having their lives ruined for an ungrateful public is a good thing!!

What a ridiculous statement, as if all Americans are anti-cop...
Well they handed over complete federal control to the dems who promptly installed an AG who made clear his mission is to prosecute cops.
Voting matters and my mission in life is to convince active cops everywhere to always protect themselves first and foremost. No other activity should ever take precedence.

Because that's their job. BTW they have been doing an excellent job of it until DeBlassio screwed it all up.

No, they are not required by the constitution to do anything and there have been no major changes to its policing policies in the last year.
Regardless of any policy there is no incentive to go into gang infested neighborhoods and try to stop it.
