It’s nice but overpriced. If you can afford $12,000 a month rent might as well buy!!!

It's nice but I'm with you, for that amount I'd have bought something by that point.

I actually like the apt and it’s location… the kitchen needs to be a little more modern… a little drab but not much work

$144,000 per year, that is a price cut from $168,000

I get that people make millions in income, what never ceases to amaze me is how many people are at that stratosphere that can afford so many apartments like this in NYC

Maybe overpriced by 1000 per month. Maybe. But it does have star pedigree/bragging rights.
Not everyone wants to put down roots in nyc. Buying has additional costs and hassles.

Perhaps not so easy:

From 2 years ago: I guess the contract fell through.

Quote:
The former home of late chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain, and his estranged wife Ottavia Busia, is in contract for close to its $3.3 million asking price.

It first went on the market for $3.7 million in September 2018, StreetEasy shows, just three months after Bourdain took his own life in France.

This dude had probably one of the best job in the planet and still off himself.

Depression is one adversary that i don't want to go to many rounds with.

Right

It should put things in perspective for many, but it won't

That's one guy I can truly say had his dream job, at least he didn't have to worry about where his next meal was coming from - not even trying to be funny.

His West Virginia episode I found particularly interesting.
