That's usually how things work my dude.

I grew up in Bergen Beach.in the mid 90s-early 2000s. I never saw black people in the neighborhood except for one time when a few teens were riding their bikes around and got chased out by a group of white teens with baseball bats.

Now I see black people in the neighborhood (at the park or just taking a walk) almost everytime I come to visit. The areas around Bergen Beach (old mill basin and Georgetown have become increasingly black over the last 20 years).

It works both ways. Why would I go to Bed Stuy before it was gentrified and risk getting jumped, robbed, or just accosted? Why would I be doing there anyway? I barely go to Bed Stuy even now.

Did you take strolls through Howard Beach back in the 80s & 90s? lol

Oh I see, so you were afraid of being a victim of a hate crime attack, that's why you didn't go to Bed-Stuy, that's different

The area of Brooklyn I live in is absolutely fabulous for families and kids.

Look into Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Gowanus, Brooklyn Heights and of course Park Slope.

Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill has one of the best elementary public schools in the city. This area is quiet, safe, and loaded with kid-friendly shops, parks and general family activities. These neighborhoods are excellent in general for family life, loaded with incredible restaurant options and good stores for everyone.

2020 was really rough on every city, and NYC is no exception. But over the course of the past 2 or 3 months, the city is really starting to come back very strong.

Don't believe the BS news reports and what you read from naysayers on this board. NYC is starting to thrive and has an incredible quality of life for families, in the right areas.

Had nothing to do with a hate crime. Why would anyone ever go into a high crime area if you don't live there? You want people to act like idiots?

I remember in the early 2Ks my father was taking me up to college in Binghamton (had to have been the very early morning on Saturday or Sunday). We were driving through ENY. We come up to a red light and 3 dudes are hanging out on the corner. They see us and start coming towards the car gesturing something.

We were in a mid 90s Explorer and the car was packed full. My father floored it and just ran the red. I'm sure the dudes were just going to ask us for that days weather.

I can also tell you about the few times I almost got jumped when I used to get off in the early morning hours from a night out in the city at the Junction in BK . I was the only white person around for miles. Easy target. lol

Didn't you grow up in this city? The current city we live in is a sanitized version (for the better) of what it used to be like.
