But you say this as if we hide or lie. Most of us are damned proud of it! It's not "weird", it's reality for people who aren't children influenced by Twitter.

I'm very open about not only my disdain for NYC, but my need to stay nearby. There's no shame in leaving NYC. It's a blessing with a million positives. But that doesn't change the fact that NYC is a cash cow. Doesn't mean we have to live there and deal with all the negatives.

I don't blame them. I love NYC and my wife would.legit divorce me if we moved to the suburbs.

This city has increasingly become one giant welfare state that extracts money from those that work and distributes it to able bodied *******s who work the system and/or choose not to work.

The city budget was $38bn ($60bn inflation dusted to 2020)in 2000. Th current years budget is near $100bn. It's Insanity. What normal.peraon would stay in this city unless they're absolutely loaded, make money off of the system, or depends on NYCs welfare system?

I have family and friends in NYC and still go there once in awhile to see them. I plan on going there again later this month or in August. I haven't been in NYC since 2019.

I know the history of the Rockaways.
Summer Homes of the mega wealthy and investors 1800-1900's.
Add a few catastrophic Storms and the wealthy and their money scatter.
A strewn field of abandonment since and then N.Y.C.H.A. came along and left its
forever unforgettable foot print of pocketed areas of poverty, gangs ,drugs and crime.
