Don't people go to after hours bars after 4am any more? I remember paying wayyyy too much for a glass of wine and then having an awesome breakfast at Veselka's on several occasions .

Yes there are some places. But you have to know them. It's not the same as being able to walk in anywhere and continue your night.
I know this is not the Buffalo forum. But years back before the virus thing, there was an interesting pattern of traffic on the border with Canada. Canada bars have last call just before 1 a.m. Buffalo bars have last call just before 4 a.m. There was a noticeable uptick in traffic over the Peace Bridge and Rainbow bridge from Canada to the US from about 1:15 a.m. to about 1:45 a.m. Then from about 4:15 a.m. to about 4:45 a.m. there was an uptick in traffic going back from the US to Canada. The Canadians did not leave sooner for the US because the beer is stronger in Canada. But they still went to the US because alcohol is still alcohol even if diluted (by their standards).

Nearly every Province is 2AM last call- including Ontario, and has been for over 20 years.
Drinks are def. a better pour in Buffalo- but I can't fathom tolls and driving some distance just to get drunk.
It's 40 minutes from St. Catherines to Downtown Buffalo.
You do have the other directional traffic though of Buffalo College students heading to Niagara- 19 to drink and gamble there.
Close to 40 years ago for me. On Fort Erie and Niagara Falls Ontario side it was 1 a.m. closing back then.
2 a.m. now? Nice to know. But being in Texas with no car right now, I cannot take advantage.
When I was growing up, NYS's drinking age was 18. When I was 22 they changed it to 21.
