These tips are for when there is significant snow outside (which I consider anything over 6")
If you will not have off-street parking, try to park either in the first spot behind or in front of the hydrant, depending on what wheel drive you have. Since you're the first spot, either way you will have more space to dig and move out
Keep a flat cardboard box in your trunk, stick it under your tires if you get stuck in snow (once again, this is for parking on the street)

You're likely gonna regret that decision soon but I recommend buying a bumper bully whenever you get the chance. I had one when I lived in Glendale and I know my back bumper would of been messed up without it.

I'm curious what part of Queens? Parking in Astoria or Ridgewood is a much different story then say Howard Beach or Bayside.
