Looks like it's not going to happen. Makes sense why people are opposing it.

The City Planning Commission will vote to disapprove the controversial Crown Heights apartment tower that threatens to block the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s sunlight, the commission’s chair said on August 16.

The developer behind the project, Continuum Company, proposed the 34 story multi-tower development at 960 Franklin Avenue near Montgomery Street, one block from the Botanic Gardens’ grow houses, and they’ve been met with fierce resistance ever since.

During a public meeting of the commission, Lago reiterated concerns about the size of the development and the risk it poses to the horticultural museum — as the garden’s leadership claims the building would block out much-needed sunlight and destroy some of the local plant life.

The developer attempted to submit a shrunk-down 17-story alternative to the commission along with its Environmental Impact Statement material, but commissioners refused to evaluate it, saying they did not have enough time.

It's official. Controversial Crown Heights Towers Officially Rejected By City Planning Commission

https://gothamist.com/news/controver...ontent=2021922

After years of controversy and protest, the NYC Planning Commission unanimously voted to reject the rezoning proposal for 960 Franklin Avenue, the residential project in Crown Heights that advocates claim would have cast plant-killing shadows over the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The vote had been expected for weeks after the project lost the support of just about every local politician—including the local community board, the Brooklyn Borough President, and the mayor.

The City Planning Commission yesterday rejected a controversial plan to construct an apartment tower that would have cast shadows across part of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. But the battle might not be over: The developer is suing the city.

The City has just a few beautiful gardens which must be treated with care and love.

I am so sick of all these gaudy buildings popping up all over the city. I'm very happy to see this one get rejected and hopefully many more to come. It's just depressing seeing all the development going on in downtown Brooklyn. It takes away from the charm of Brooklyn.

I have a friend who works at the BBG. They thought this building would have killed them. That was likely a major reason it got turned down.

There's a lot of highrise project architecture around the area in question. This would have been an improvement overt that.

The builder saved himself a bundle by avoiding being the last fool to build into a bubble with a sharp arrow about to be launched into it. The arrow has the logo EVERGRANDE embossed on it.

May all the flowers be dead.......NOT!

Bad enough to have the notorious Ebbets Field in the neighborhood. Now, a high-rise condo taking away the sunlight!
