How does the city compare to pre-covid times? Do things feel almost back to normal? If it weren't for the masks, would you know that we are still technically in a pandemic?

I absolutely love it I must say. I have been going to the museums and broadway shows. There are less crowds. Ticket prices are cheaper. Also finding parking is a breeze. The restaurants have been packed though.
Manhattan is quite enjoyable now (As long as you stay clear of the drug addicts and criminals lol)
We were in the city midweek around 10 pm and decided to grab a bite to eat. We were surprised at how packed the restaurants were. I guess people have more leisure time since they don't have to commute to work in morning.
The outer boroughs are business as usual. The left wing media and the filthy dirty left wing demorat politicians would have you believing otherwise but our eyes don't lie. They plan on making covid an issue forever. Fact is most working class areas have decided it's here to stay...so get vax'd and just live your life the way you did.

Pretty much business as usual (except less employees in businesses) and the weird need for appointment for many things that previously were drop ins.
It depends on a neighborhood. If you walk into Far Rockaway, it feels dreadful on some streets and some people are on edge. There’s trauma from all that’s been going on.
The traffic on the roads is noticeably worse than before.
Food in restaurants costs more, and service across several sectors is worse because there aren’t as many workers.
Manhattan nightlife is booming as others said, and it’s a pleasure to be out because there aren’t as many tourists (yet).

It is easier to hide a hangover on zoom lol
Of course it is. I'm on Zoom regularly and people just keep their cameras off.
