no , it did say tax rate changed (went 21.045% to 19.963%) for 2022 for tax class 1 homes

assessed value for most people will go up every year anyway, so next years tax bill probably wont go down much if at all.

Did you not read any of linked articles?

"The City of New York has finalized the real estate tax rates for tax year 2021/22, which began July 1, 2021, and will end June 30, 2022. The rate for Class 2 residential properties is down, while the rate for Class 4 nonresidential properties (i.e., commercial) is up.

The following is a comparison of the annualized tax rates for tax years 2020/21 and 2021/22:"

Is there any other meaning of above than actual rates were adjusted?

The bill is posted online about a week before it comes in the mail. I got the bill today.

Bad news is these decreases in taxes reflect dropping of assessed values.

Tax assessments for 2021/22 declined by their largest margin in > 25 years due to effects of covid-19. Overall city properties took a hit in market value of 5.2%.

Keep on top of things? I keep on top of them by checking the bill online. There is nothing that could be done about the rate by keeping “on top of things”. It has to be paid regardless of when you see the new rate.

The assessed value of my home (Class 1) went up after covid on the most recent statement of property value as the estimated market value went up over 10%. I don’t know about class 3 and 4 properties but most private home values went up after covid.

Exactly.

As a location becomes less desirable
the property in said location loses value.
Property taxes are a reflection in part.

Escalating crime that results in a lesser value
property is no different than someone defacing your home.

Let's see if any of the MAGA types here (oh God...SOOO MANY) give De Blasio credit for the 5% tax reduction.) Lord knows, if they went UP by 5%, he would be loudly pilloried.

BTW,
homes are re-assessed when the city does a Reval, which has not been done.

ppl complaining about taxes have to reassess their budget, because taxes are never going away

Our friend martin just sees his bill and pays it

Food for thought

Why would they complain about property tax if they're exempt from paying?
