The bus going be stuck in NYC traffic riders going wait 30 mins for the bus come ? The other worldclass cities Tokyo, London have transportation from their airports. Chicago have trains going to O'Hare and Midway airport.

New York transit is third world.
In fact, some third world airports have trains in and out of them.

You don't need gimmicks - just build a subway. An (N) extension to LGA is the natural option. But NIMBYs don't want that apparently.

NYC had subways long before Musk was born. but new tunnels wouldn't be necessary to get the subway to LGA. Just split a line off the current N elevated track at Astoria Blvd, and run a the line over the Grand Central Parkway to LGA. It's not that complicated.

Edit: Didn't see minnomaboidenapolis post. Same idea, but mine is more specific.
