Make it to go so I don't have to waste my money on entire bottles of liquor for the 3 or 4 times a year I feel like having a drink at home.

Hochul Backs Permanent Legalization Of To-Go Cocktails As Part Of Recovery Plan

https://gothamist.com/news/hochul-ba...content=202215

New York Governor Kathy Hochul wants to permanently legalize the sale of cocktails to-go as part of a small business recovery plan outlined in her first state of the state address Wednesday afternoon.

“Thousands of bars and restaurants, the souls of our neighborhoods, have had to close,” Hochul said. “We're also going to do something bars and restaurants have been asking for; to once again allow the sale of to-go drinks — a critical revenue stream during the lean times last year.”

Do they still have the rules in place that to order a drink at an outdoor dining corral you need to also order food? If so, that they should get rid of. 2nd avenue in the low 80's was a running block party on nice afternoons with everyone out drinking.

BTW, I voted yes in the poll. It's not that I oppose to go drinks. I just think there are better things the legiscritters could spend their time on.

Restaurateurs waiting for to-go drinks to make a comeback

Giselle Deiaco lights up thinking about the "drinks-to-go" program — it was a bright spot for her restaurant Avena Downtown two years ago.

"We were mobbed," recalled Deiaco, who is a partner at the eatery.

The statewide initiative allowed restaurants to sell alcoholic drinks to-go in the early months of the pandemic, when indoor dining was off-limits.

What You Need To Know

Giselle Deiaco, a partner at Avena Downtown, said to-go drinks were a big hit at her restaurants in 2020

Gov. Kathy Hochul has said she will propose legislation permanently legalizing the sale of to-go drinks

Deiaco hopes that process will kick off sooner rather than later

Awful decision by Hochul and the city council. Airline fights are at an all time high largely due to idiots and their alcohol. And with all of the crime plaguing the city, how does this help?
