Someone keeps opening an upper window (which I can't reach) in the corridor/hallway just outside my apartment. So I dislike having to go down the hallway to throw garbage or recycling in this weather as I need to dress for outdoors to do so!

It was probably open due to COVID.

I doubt it. Meanwhile, for the second time within a week the bldg central heating and hot water isn't working. I know they repaired it last week but obviously not good enough. So that open window in the hallway isn't good as some cold air seeps into the apartment under the front door as well.

I'm in the same boat as those with too much heat. I leave my thermostate on 72 and my apartment is consistently 84 when it's in the 40s outside. This week was the first week where it felt remotely near 72 because it was much colder outside.

I have all these sweaters/sweatshirts that get no use because I'm flopping around in t-shirts and shorts all winter with a fan on and kicking my blankets off.

I'm on the top floor of an old (1925) building, and we are the last to get the heat, but are the first to lose the heat.
My thermometers in each room read between 72-74, a lot depends on the sun as well, if it is sunny out the sun beams thru the windows and also warms the bricks.

Me, I prefer 76-77, anything under that, Im cold, my partner does not, he is always complaining he is hoit, it makes me so irate, because there are times he complains it is boiling in here, and the thermometer reads 2, to me, you cannot be boiling at 72 degrees. 92 yes, 72 no.

freaking annoying.

if I ever had to date again ( which Id never do) the first question would be: what temperature do you like the house?

anything below 74, were not a match,.

Me Too.

How do you get your room to 74 from the 68 law ? I tried desperately in the bedroom with a space heater to no avail.

It's eerie that this thread was posted a day or so before that horrific fire in the Bronx occurred. Last I read it started because of a space heater. Very sad.

I want to know why all these horrific fires start in the Bronx. I know fires happen all over but the 5 most deadliest NYC fires all were in the Bronx. Coincidence?
