24 year-old single guy moving to Manhattan, worried I'm making a mistake with Yorkville/UES?

I’m going to move to UES/Yorkville. I don’t want to ditch my friend after we’ve already made plans plus the places we’ve been finding have been pretty spacious = good for remote work.
I’m pretty nervous as friends continue to dump on me for moving there but whatever. I’m going to make the most of the city and explore/enjoy as many neighborhoods as I can even if I live uptown. If I hate it I can move in a year. Many worse situations to be in.
Try to stay reasonably close to one of the Second Avenue Q-train stations (like 83rd to 86th or 94th through 96th, both sprawling stations.) Save your energy for your music.
Has anyone but me started to wonder if OP is real? People have bought houses with less agonizing.
Suburban kids are coddled.
Where are all the people saying NYC is dead? I've seen) heard of more young, clueless transplants moving to NYC the past 6 months than in the previous 5 years. Even with remote work.
My take? Lots of old people died and their grandkids are taking that inheritance money to NYC.
OP,
Jeff already lives in CT, has a job in CT and as you noted, will be doing a commute ....why is he moving to Manhattan at this time? For the (perceived) fun, glamor, excitement, etc.?
Anyway, as others have said, UES isn't a bad place/way to start your NYC life!

Jeff is an idiot. Unless, Jeff will start looking for a job in NYC.
The biggest myth is that UES is as depicted on TV, aka Sex in the City. Not even remotely true. The area has gotten progressively younger, especially east of Lexington by the Q line where they have built up the area a ton and attracted a new demo to the area.
Lots of bars/restaurants and transportation to other parts of Manhattan you wish to frequent, while your friend can commute to CT when needed.
