I agree. Double standards exist though. It is what it is. I had a Philipino friend in college who used to use the N word freely around black people. No one batted an eye. Imagine if I did that.
In the context of what he said, it's really not a big deal. He was basically saying that there'll be black people that will tell him not to run and his reply to them would be to put up or shut up. In his eyes, he "put up" while in the NYPD and his question to them would be, "would they rather have a "cracker" run who didn't do anything"?

I don't even think there's a general slur for whites. Whites were never a monolith in the US. There are slurs for ethnic groups among whites ; Irish , Italian, Jews, etc.
