Looks like Staten Island is evolving into getting an actual "downtown." St. George can transform into the San Francisco of the East Coast in terms of aesthetics.

Permits Filed For 8 Stuyvesant Place In St. George, Staten Island

Stuyvesant near Hyatt St & Bay St.

Quote:
The proposed 166-foot-tall development will yield 255,407 square feet, with 247,903 square feet designated for residential space and 7,504 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 295 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 840 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and 149 enclosed parking spaces.
Apparently a 100% market rate development but I'm not certain. Other sources describe it as a condominium development which would be better for SI. Parking spaces provided for only 50.5% of the units which will prove to be a mistake. More than 50% of the residents will own cars which are a necessity on Staten Island, unless the new residents prefer to be trapped on the crummy north shore. A lot of that retail space will go begging but that's a citywide problem.

I checked the filing, there is low-income housing. The parking spaces will most likely go to the market-rate residents.
